The Hunter's Friend staff was simply dumbfounded when we first fired the Stryker back in '07. No gimmicks, no tricks.....the Stryker Crossbow blasts 425 grain bolts at a mind-numbing 405 fps. The bolts (arrows) fly so fast, you can scarcely track them with your eye. But you certainly know when they land. As your target tries to absorb all 155 ft-lbs of KE, you hear it "POP" in a way you've never heard before, you watch the whole target shake, you instinctively spout curses of delight, and you hurry to load another bolt!
This crossbow is just MEAN....BAD TO THE BONE....THE SNARLING JUNKYARD DOG OF CROSSBOWS. You've never seen an arrow fly like this - from anything. And once you shoot one, you'll understand. No other high-performance crossbow model is even in the same league. The Stryker is the fastest, most powerful production crossbow in existence......PERIOD! If you love big speed and power, the Stryker is calling your name. Cock…load…squeeze…game over!
HOW IS 405 FPS POSSIBLE?
Most crossbows shoot about the same speeds as quality compound bows, roughly 300-320 fps. A few elite models even shoot a little faster than that. But 405??? Come on!!! If you're thinking that 405 fps seems almost unreal, we know what you mean. We didn't believe it either....until we spoke with the Stryker designers....and actually shot the bow for ourselves.
Turns out that most crossbow manufacturers still utilize decades-old round wheel cam technology, so even with heavy draw weights, their crossbows cannot store much more energy than modern compound bows. And even if they could, standard crossbow limbs would never withstand that much energy.

WHAT ABOUT ACCURACY?
Our team visited the Bowtech factory in September of 2006 to preview the Stryker prototype. Given the ridiculously fast arrow speeds, we suspected the Stryker might be challenging to shoot and control. But what we actually observed was just the opposite. We spent an entire afternoon shooting the Stryker at ranges of up to 100 yards, and we were amazed. With a standard triple red-dot scope, set for 20, 40, and 60 yards, we easily piled arrows into 1-3" groups. In fact, at short ranges you really can't shoot for the same spot more than once - as the Stryker literally piles arrows into the same hole. Out to 60 yards, the Stryker is undeniably pinpoint lethal.
But what about beyond 60 yards? Just for fun, we stepped back to a full 100 yards, and we were still able to comfortably hold 4-5" groups. And that was just with a few hours of practice! We've tested a number of crossbows over the years, and we've never seen this kind of accuracy. Beyond 30 or 40 yards, most crossbows seem to get unpredictable. But not the Stryker. Forget about the wind, weather, and gravity. Just put the dot where you want the arrow to go, and squeeze the trigger. With the Binary cams, there is no horizontal oscillation to disrupt the arrow flight. So every arrow leaves like a laser beam......or at least we think they do. At 405 fps, the arrow flight is rather hard to watch. From the shooter's perspective, all you see is the flash of the fletching as it clears the riser, while the arrow seems to simultaneously "appear" in the target. When you shoot this crossbow, there's only one thing you want to do. Shoot it again!
